Central Mexico´s hot climate, natural springs and slightly acid soil composition align to yield grapefruits with distinctively balanced sweet and sour flavor. When Fairtrasa came to the grapefruit farmers, they were pulling out trees and selling their land because they had no market for their fruit. Over the course of the years we eased their dependency on low Mexican fruit prices by sending their fruit to the USA, Canada and Europe. Becoming fairtrade certified guaranteed them even more price stability.
